BAGGAGE

My friend is getting married and honeymooning
in New Zealand. I'm a bridesmaid, and my duty for the bridal
shower was the "wishing well." In my opinion, wishing wells are
an archaic tradition so I decided to make it modern.
I chose a honeymoon theme and to create the "well" out of a
vintage suitcase. After a few days of searching, I stumbled upon
this gem at a thrift store. It's an old-school Samsonite.
I really liked the color, the size was perfect,
the inside checked out and the monograms were two M's.
The couple's names are Matt and Meg. Score!!

The is how I customized it. All it took were stencils,
a bottle of spray paint, stickers and patience.

At the shower the guests piled their honeymoon gifts
in the case, and it looked really good.
Unfortunately I don't have a picture, my bad!

Prior to this project, it didn't dawn on me how cool vintage
suitcases could be. I definitely need one for myself. If not to use, to have as decor.
Another item on my list of things to look for while thrift shopping!!

MISSTEP

These are the ugliest fall 2009 shoes I've seen.
Amazon.com will be carrying them.
Kate Spade this is so unlike you!
What were you thinking?

Are they suppose to trick you into
thinking they are a present?
Maybe tap into our subconscious
feelings of joy on Christmas morning?
Bah... humbug.

Seychelles-not the islands the shoes

I put Seychelles in the same category as Frye
because every season their collections get better
and better. For fall, Seychelles keeps the menswear trend
alive with oxfords, lace-ups and boots. I cannot be more
obsessed with this first shoe (below). It's a little masculine,
a bit feminine, a glimmer of '80s Madonna and a hint of Victorian.
What more can you ask for?

Affordable, you can wear these shoes to death
without any guilt. In fact, probably the more
beat up they are the cooler they look.

WELL-HEELED

My Sofft shoes made their debut today, and yes, they are indeed soft.
Along with being comfortable, they are versatile and cute.

The bird's eye view is not their best side.

It's all about the profile.

I like that the shape is modern with a vintage flair. The heel height is practical for New York walking, and the wood makes a nice contrast with the body of the shoe. Gold leather can often look cheap when it's too shiny, but here it's subtle and rich.

HAPPY 4TH!

God bless America, and this star-studded bag by Lena Erziak.

It comes in a forest green too..

I fancy the maroon one.

BE STILL MY BEATING LOCKHEART

I am officially a fan of Lockheart. The latest collection
has lured me in one smart and whimsical bag at a time.
The shapes are relaxed yet polished, and the colors are bold but practical.
My heart skips a beat for the details. The details!!! They are genius.
The braiding, embroidery, tassels and stitching
make these bags truly unique.
See for yourself:

KANYE'S KICKS

Kanye West's sneaker collaboration with Louis Vuitton
hit stores yesterday, but good luck scoring a pair --
rumor has it they've already sold out.
Waiting lists are full, but if you have a smidgen of masochism in you,
here are a few styles (you can't get) from the line.

Photos taken from Highsnobiety.com

Styles start at around $800, a pretty penny for a pair of kicks.
I'd rather purchase a pair of Manolos!
